Government inspectors have given a broad thumbs-up to the council's blueprint for the future of Colchester.
A public inquiry was held by the inspectors last year to look over every aspect of the "local plan" drawn up by the council to determine how the borough should grow in the coming ten years.
Importantly, the inspectors showed confidence in the future of the controversial proposed A12 junction and the neighbouring development of Severalls Hospital.
The report also ruled there should be no more large expansions into green belt land other than those already given the green light by the council.
