Brentwood developer Countryside Properties has won many prizes and awards over the years but now, it has been put to the sword.

The company, which has always prided itself on its Health and safety record, has just been awarded the Sword of Honour 2002 by the British Safety Council.

The sword is regarded as the pinnacle of health and safety awards in the UK.

The Essex firm was one of only 40 companies out of two hundred who applied this year, to be awarded the Sword of Honour 2002 - and it makes the group the only developer anywhere to have received the award in the last two years.

Marc Foster, Head of Health and Safety at Countryside said the firm was very proud to have been presented with the award and would use it as a benchmark to maintain high standards.

"Achieving the Sword of Honour illustrates that health and safety within the company is paramount" he added.
