Police today revealed they have a number of new lines of inquiry to follow up in their search for the murderer of widow Jean Dicker.

A successful operation to speak to as many residents as possible living in the area around her Clacton bungalow has paid off.

Det Supt Gareth Wilson, who is leading the hunt, said some valuable leads had been uncovered.

Detectives are keen to trace a white camper van and its occupants.

It was parked on zig-zag lines near Burrsville School in Craigfield Avenue at about 12.20pm on Wednesday, January 29, on the day the 58-year-old was murdered.

Mr Wilson said: "We believe there were two people inside the van and we would like to speak to them.

"There was also a British Heart Foundation van collecting and delivering in the area on that day and that should not be confused with the camper van."

Officers have also been given reports of a person wearing a grey or silvery grey top or anorak.

One witness put the person in Craigfield Avenue on January 29 but there were unable to tell whether it was a man or woman because they had the hood up.

"We would appeal to the people in the camper or the person in the grey, silvery top to come forward so that we can eliminate them from our inquiries," added Mr Wilson.

Mrs Dicker's body was discovered in the hallway of her home by her son, Steve, with head injuries. Anyone who can help should contact 01206 762122.
