Gas masks and war medals are being hunted by children at a Benfleet school who will soon conduct a special history exhibition.

Youngsters at South Benfleet primary school are searching for war memorabilia to feature in the school's World War Two museum.

Cathy West, spokesman for the school in the High Road, said: "We are getting children to ask grandparents and elderly friends if they have anything relevant to the Second World War.

"If they have then the children will bring these items into school to make up part of the museum."

The museum will open at the school on February 26 and all parents and relatives are welcome to go and see what the children have gathered.
