Controversial plans to build flats on a social club car park have been accepted by Southend Council.
Taylor Made Homes' plans for a three-storey block of flats on the Ambleside Social Club car park in Ambleside Drive, Southend, were recommended for refusal by council officers.
They said the development was too big for the street scene and residents of the flats could be bothered by noise from the adjacent social club.
Councillors, however, said that they could see no reason to turn the application down.
The committee agreed to accept the outline plans in principle, subject to further requirements.
