A £60 million spending spree to rejuvenate Southend has been announced.
The package includes more than £2million for newly-announced schemes, including improvements to the seafront, revamping public toilets and improving disabled access to council buildings.
The money has been raised through EU and Government grants, borrowing and reserves.
George Krawiec, Southend town clerk, said: "The council has identified a number of areas to spend the money on.
"Before we do that, we consult relevant parties to make sure we are providing what people want."
The foreshore at Southend has been identified for a £500,000 cash boost.
Mr Krawiec said: "We will ask the traders where they would like to see the money go before we make any decisions, but we are looking at the Western Esplanade in particular.
"We want to make it more attractive to bring in more tourists and trippers so the town gets more business."
The Shoebury Renown area has also been singled out for rejuvenation, with £50,000 of funds made available.
