Youngsters in Cressing are in line for two new play areas.

Work on a replacement play area for young children at the Jeffreys Road playing field has been progressing for several months.

Now the parish council has announced plans to refurbish the former now unused play park, at the other end of the playing field, into an activity area for teenagers.

The first stage is to consult 11 to 16-year-olds in the village about what kind of equipment they would like there, with basic skateboard facilities an option.

Children and their families are being invited to attend a meeting at St Barnabas Hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday, April 1, to propose and discuss ideas.

The young children's play area will be moving closer to the residential area and the parish council is in the process of applying for funding from various organisations.

Parish council clerk Jane Brockbank said: "Children from Cressing School visited Black Notley play area for inspiration and gave us drawings of what they would like in the new play area.

"We decided on swings, a roundabout, see-saw and climbing apparatus. There is some money in the parish coffers, but we are looking at £20,000 needed for the park."
