Campaigners fighting to save the former Severalls Hospital, Colchester, have called a public meeting.
The Save Severalls Campaign and website were set up by Ian Richards after plans were unveiled to bulldoze most of the buildings to make way for up to 1,700 homes.
The situation has been ongoing for well over a year and is due to go before Colchester councillors in April.
Mr Richards said: "The meeting is basically to let people know who we are, what is going on with the Severalls development because there is an awful lot of people who still don't know and how they can help to make a difference."
The meeting takes place on Friday, February 28, at Cardinal Bourne hall, Priory Street, from 7pm.
Also attending the meeting will be Essex county councillor Jeremy Lucas, who has been campaigning in particular to save the Severalls concert hall, John Egan, chairman of Colchester Civic Society, and Adam Wilkinson, from the group Save Britain's Heritage.
