A councillor has demanded a skate park and BMX centre in central Southend to stop youngsters "wrecking" the borough's parks and gardens.
Dr Marimuthu Velmurugan, a Labour councillor for Westborough, won support for his call by Tory executive councillor for sport, Tony North.
However, Mr North said: "Finding a suitable area, attractive to skateboarders, away from residents' and shopping areas is very difficult.
"If an appropriate area could be found I would be happy to work towards provision of these facilities."
Dr Velmurugan has also asked senior councillors to consider a teen village plan at a play area in Fairfax Drive, Westcliff.
However, Mr North added: "Experience demonstrates mixed age play areas cause stress and bullying for younger children, discrete provision is therefore made for varied age groups at different sites."
