Police were today appealing for witnesses to an alleyway robbery which left a 60-year-old woman with a broken arm.
The incident happened in a walkway between Weir Pond Road and Oast Way, Rochford, when she was walking with an elderly relative.
The robber approached the pair from behind and made a grab for the victim's bag.
He pulled it from her shoulder and she fell to the ground, breaking her arm.
The thief ran off towards Weir Pond Road with the large black nylon shopping bag which also contained a small black leather handbag.
