Rochford councillors have agreed to ask Southend Council for more details from airport bosses on their controversial runway proposals.
Shaun Scrutton, Rochford District Council's head of planning, said: "I do believe it's important this council has all the information necessary in order to make a reasoned judgment in respect of this application."
Planning proposals for improvement works to the existing runway include moving St Laurence Church, a Grade 1 listed building, and the realignment of Eastwoodbury Lane.
