Aveley and Great Wakering Rovers, both in a rich vein of form at the moment, will tonight attempt to enhance their bids to finish the Ryman Division One North season in the top half of the table.

The two sides currently lie 12th and 13th in the table on 44 points with Aveley ahead on goal difference.

However, they do have the considerable advantage of having five games in hand on the village side, who have just 13 matches to play.

Rovers, who have managed nine goals in their past three League games for maximum points after struggling to hit the net previously, could make it four in a row when they travel to North London to face 18th-placed Wingate and Finchley tonight.

And Aveley will be fancied to continue their great recent run -- which saw them win through to the Essex Senior Cup final by beating Billericay Town -- when they entertain Marlow.

Struggling Tilbury will be hoping for some respite from their wretched recent form when they travel to the Old Spotted Dog ground tonight to meet Ryman Division Two Clapton in the Essex Thamesside Trophy second round.
