An expectant crowd gathered in Witham's Newland Street on Saturday to watch the official unveiling of the new town sign.
The town's landmarks past and present have been captured in the colourful sign, designed by local Rotarian and retired architect Roy Belsham.
The sign had been due to be unveiled last November but installation was delayed because of problems contractors had installing a suitable base.
Witham MP Alan Hurst began the proceedings, sharing his impression of the new landmark, he said: "It's a most impressive town sign and I think it's really going to become a landmark for this town".
The sign includes images of St Nicolas' church, Cressing Temple Barn, Barnardiston House, Chipping Hill Bridge, the Town Hall and Mondy Ironmongers
