Visitors making their way to Canvey's Waterside Farm later this summer could be forgiven for thinking they had wandered into the Middle Ages.

Would-be knights in shining armour will be jousting for the affections of their lady-loves in tournaments harking back to the days of King Arthur.

Meanwhile Richard the Lionheart's famous crusades will be reenacted in the field off the island's Somnes Avenue.

The talented Spectacular Knights of the Crusades will be bringing legend and history to life at the Castle Point Show in June and already locals are looking forward to the big day.

David Seamark is busy preparing for the festivities when he will be showing off his sheepdogs' skill and this year the dog trainer is even inviting children to help him out with his demonstration in the arena.

Meanwhile animal-loving youngsters will have the chance to touch and feed rare breeds of farm animals.

However, teenagers have not been forgotten by the show's organisers, Castle Point Council. The Solent Eagles Motorcycle Display team of young riders will be taking part in a display which includes a spectacular fire jump.

The Eastwood Emerald Majorettes will have the chance to show off their talents at the event while the Mala Academy of Dance perform some of their tricky routines.

There will be inflatables, trampolines, live music from local bands and a falconry display laid on at the free show which kicks off at 11.00am.

Sharon Hickey, events officer at the council said: "We are very excited about this year's Castle Point Show."
