Athlete are the latest addition to the V Festival line-up along with David Holmes, Futurehead, Damien Rice and Michael Franti & Spearhead.

Athlete are one of the UK's most talked about bands. New single El Salvador has just been released from their debut album Vehicles and Animals.

Belfast born DJ and producer David Holmes makes a welcome return to V after appearing in the Strongbow Golden Dance Arena last year. David is famed for his own brand of cinematic soul and leftfield soundscape.

David will be playing in the JJB/Puma arena.

From John Kennedy to John Peel the Futureheads have been touted as ones to watch - despite being described as 'splenetic', 'rowdy' and 'shambolic' on occasions.

Damian Rice however brings a whole different angle to V with his song writing skills. He plays the second stage this year at V.

Skilful and organic sounding Spearhead (fronted by Michael Franti) merge hip-hop with socially conscious writings. They have recently released Rock the Nation, taken from the Stay Human album.

Ticket sales are up 662% from the same point last year and Festival Director, Bob Angus, said: "We knew tickets would sell quickly, but this is just outstanding! We want as few disappointed festival-goers as possible, so we urge everyone that wants to go to V to get their tickets quick. This is the only English summer festival Coldplay and Red Hot Chili Peppers will be at, so if you are fan, coming to V is an absolute must.'

Festival Director, Simon Moran, added: "All camping tickets for Hylands Park, Chelmsford have already sold out, so the only way you are going to get a pitch for your tent is if you get your skates on and buy camping tickets for Weston Park, Staffs. The number of tickets sold is going up and up by the minute, so you really have to get your tickets while you can."
