Joe Royle today likened new signing Drissa Diallo to former England defender Earl Barrett.
The Ipswich Town boss has swooped to make the Guinean international his first permanent signing since arriving at Portman Road.
And, in singing the praises of the out-of-contract Burnley centre-half, Royle drew comparisons with his former player Barrett.
The duo enjoyed great success together at Oldham and Royle told the Evening Gazette: "Drissa reminds me of Earl.
"He's quick, very strong and never frightened to make tackles so fits the bill in terms of what we're looking for.
"The fact we conceded too many goals last season is no secret but hopefully this signing is a big step towards solving that problem.
"Drissa is a player I've been keeping an eye on for some time.
"I've also heard great reports from other people so I'm confident he can be a big success at Portman Road."
Diallo, born in Mauritania and raised in France, previously played in Belgium with Mechelen.
