Maldon has one of the best councils in the country when it comes to recovering costs for dumped cars.
The district council's environmental services spokesman Martin Walker made the claim following news that the authority has recovered nearly £700 in the last six months for the offence.
Four people who have abandoned cars in the district have been prosecuted and further action is pending against another five people, two of whom face court action.
Mr Walker said: "We certainly have seen a success in recovering costs. We're one of the best councils in the country for trying to recover costs."
