A Frinton store's plans to get tough on underage drinking have been welcomed.

Convenience shop, Spar, in Connaught Avenue, has brought in a strict new policy to only sell alcohol to people over the age of 21.

The new measure, made public with a notice on its shop window, has been brought in after repeated efforts by underage youngsters to buy alcohol from the store.

Supervisor Ann Fairweather said the number of children trying to buy booze has increased and that at times they have shouted at staff.

She said: "We've had kids in here shouting that they are 18 and to serve them but they don't have ID so we won't."
