Heave ho me hearties. Pub teams from Wivenhoe and Fingringhoe battled it out in a traditional tug o'war contest across the River Colne in front of a huge crowd.
Teams from both sides of the river will be sharing the trophy it will be on display at the Whalebone pub in Fingringhoe for six months and the rest of the year in Wivenhoe.

The contest was part of the celebrations for Wivenhoe Regatta.
Vivien Steed, the landlady of the Whalebone, said: "It was such a good night. It was really good fun.
"The ground was sodden after the heavy rain but no one fell in.
"It was the first year we have done it and there were eight people in each team but we hope to do it again next year."
