A very consistent day from five handicapper Ray Weidner saw him carry off Rochford Hundred's much-coveted Billy Bines trophy -- a 36-hole bogey competition -- on Sunday.

Weidner had three birdies and 13 pars in the morning to come in on plus four and any fears of him faltering in the afternoon were dispelled with another great run of three birdies and ten pars for plus three.

His plus seven total saw him comfortably see off the challenge from cadet Ashley Foreman, a nine handicapper.

Foreman, whose father and grandfather were both former professionals at Belfairs, had plus one in the morning and a superb plus four after lunch.

Third spot went to Ross Druit on plus four. Best morning prize was taken by Mick Gill (plus three) with Roger Fearn (plus three) taking the afternoon honours.

Dick Clarke won the club's Centenary Salver, an 18-hole Stableford competition, when his 42 points was too hot for the other contenders.

Clarke, a stalwart of Rochford's Leslie Wood side this year, had six birdies and six pars.
