Lottery jackpot winner Doug Wood has been found dead at his home.
Mr Wood's body was discovered late yesterday afternoon by the sons of his cleaner, Mrs Susan Nice, who lives a few doors away and has a key to his house in Midhurst Avenue, Westcliff.
Mr Wood, 67, scooped £2.6million on the National Lottery in September 1995 and boasted he "lived life to the full".
The racing enthusiast, who never married, gave hundreds of thousands of pounds to charity and travelled extensively but recently told the Evening Echo that he was down to his last £80,000.
The likaeble pensioner added at the time he would be cutting back on his spending and was looking forward to a quiet retirement.
