Leaders Halstead triumphed in the crunch match in division one, defeating close rivals Copdock by 45 runs.
Hosts Copdock, who were third in the league going into the game, could only make 163 in reply to Halstead's 208 for seven.
Halstead moved marginally ahead of Wivenhoe, who beat Coggeshall but missed out on a bowling point.
Wivenhoe set the visitors a big total of 279 for four but Coggeshall's reply ended on 141 for nine.
Sudbury remain in fourth place as they defeated Bury St Edmunds seconds.
