Sunday sees Grays' Gary Rouse bidding for glory at the Groom Motorsport Millennium 50 at Arena Essex.

The 50-lap race is the longest in the Group A hot-rods calendar and was won by Rouse last year when he eclipsed teenage Erith star Chris Smith.

Rouse and Smith are favourites for honours this weekend when they lock horns again, but they face tough competition from Steve Gooch, Ricky McCatty and Jason Griffiths.

The trio are all enjoying their best ever seasons in hot-rod racing at Arena Essex.

Also racing are Southend's Sharon and Tracey Worthington as they join 30 other women drivers in the final qualifier for this year's championship race on September 7.

Other action includes 90 Plastengrave Bangers and the traditional 36-car Rawlins Transport Dest-ruction Derby. The action gets under way at 12.30pm.
