Drissa Diallo is counting the hours until he strides out for his first appearance at 'beautiful' Portman Road.

Ipswich Town's new recruit has already caught the eye since signing from Burnley, impressing on the pre-season tour of Scandinavia and in Saturday's friendly at Colchester United.

But the powerful defender is most excited about tonight's clash with Levski Sofia - and the chance to prove himself in front of the home faithful at Portman Road.

Diallo told the Evening Gazette: "We trained on the main pitch yesterday and I have to say how impressed I am with the stadium.

"I've never played here before so I'm very excited.

"I signed for Burnley in January so missed last season's game between the sides here.

"But I've heard very good things about the crowd and the atmosphere. It must be a real motivator.

"The pitch is also very beautiful and perfect for playing good football on. Hopefully it will be an entertaining game for the fans."

Diallo admits to knowing very little about Sofia, billed in the pre-match hype as the Manchester United of Bulgaria.

But he warned: "Sides from their part of the world are usually very skilful with good technique."
