A mother-of-three has had no hot water or cooking facilities for two days - but so far no-one has even tried to fix the problem.

Cara Osbourne, 25, of Lincoln Road, Craylands, Basildon, lost electricity at 8pm on Wednesday night. Everything in her fridge and freezer has had to be thrown away and she says she cannot afford to replace it.

She claims that she tried to call her supplier British Gas but couldn't get through until yesterday morning.

When she did she was told that she was "not a priority" and that she would have to wait at least 24 hours for someone to come out and look at her meter.

The 25-year-old, who has a three-year-old child and twins aged one-and-a-half, cannot use any appliances in her home without electricity.

Her brother Malcolm said: "We are worried about the children. She cannot even give them a glass of milk because that has gone off."

British Gas was unavailable for comment.
