Witham will get a new community centre to replace Spring Lodge and a Braintree community hall will close, if a council report is adopted this week.
The report is the result of the council's review of all its community halls and centres, which aims to sell off under-used venues and build new ones where there is most demand
Under the proposals, the community centres at Great Bradfords in Braintree and Spring Lodge in Witham would be closed and their sites sold.
Witham Community Association would relocate to a new purpose-built community and sports centre on land in Stevens Road.
The association has been promised it can stay at Spring Lodge until the new building is ready.
Braintree Council's executive is due to decide whether to accept or reject the proposals at a meeting on Wednesday night
