Hairdresser Nicky Hatfield will walk part of the Great Wall of China to raise money for deaf children.
The 23-year-old who lives at Hemley Road, Orsett works at The Old Barber Shop in Grays and has been planning the trip for next May for months.
She said, "I am paying for the cost myself, so anyone who sponsors me will know that their donations will go straight to the National Deaf Children's Society."
