Police are stepping up patrols in the run up to Christmas to combat drink-related violence and nuisance behaviour.
Operation Barnsley swings into action every Friday and Saturday night until the new year.
A police van is on call across Basildon until 3am, boosting high visibility patrols during the party season.
Supt Glenn Caton, operations manager at Basildon police, said: "The unit is here to respond to incidents of nuisance or disorder to enable the public to enjoy the lead up to the festive season."
