Joe Royle has received a triple injury boost as three players continue their recoveries at Ipswich Town.

Martijn Reuser, Chris Makin and Alan Mahon are making steady progress - with the latter expected to be ready for Saturday's Portman Road showdown against Sheffield United.

The Blackburn loanee looks to have conquered a hamstring injury suffered in last month's win against Stoke.

His loan was temporarily halted while he recovered but will now be restarted in time for Saturday.

Reuser has also received encouraging news as he battles to overcome a groin problem which has ruled him out since August.

The Dutchman has seen a number of specialists and was resigned to the fact he might have to have a hernia operation.

However, a special exercise programme looks to have done the trick and he has featured in the last couple of reserve games without any ill effects.

Reuser has the chance to give his fitness another boost in tomorrow's second-string clash at home to Portsmouth.

Makin, meanwhile, has had an injection into a nerve in order to help him recover from the hip and thigh problems which have so far ruined his season.
