Tory MP Sir Teddy Taylor and his wife Sheila have told of their delight at having a new mental health resource centre named in their honour.

The South Essex Partnership NHS Trust is opening the Taylor Centre in East Street, Southend, tomorrow.

The centre has been named after Sir Teddy, MP for Rochford and Southend East, and wife Sheila for their contribution and continued support of mental health services in Southend.

Mrs Taylor worked for Southend Mental Health Trust, Southend Health Authority and Health Trust for more than 15 years.

She said: "We are both delighted about it.

Mrs Taylor, who is now retired but helps at her husband's House of Commons office, continued: "It is very touching because I do not think we have had anything named after us before."

The Taylors will be at the centre when it officially opens tomorrow.
