Parts of a school are being sealed off as asbestos is removed
The potentially hazardous material is being removed from walls at Colbayns High School in Clacton as part of an ongoing improvements programme
But parents of children at the school are being reassured there is no health risk to pupils.
The school, in Pathfields Road, is involved in a large-scale private finance initiative to revamp areas including the sport's hall, sixth form centre and the building of a new performing arts facility.
Nick Pavitt, headteacher at the school, said part of the plans already set in motion is a complete refurbishment of the school.
Mr Pavitt stressed: "There is absolutely no risk to anybody."
Starting with the west block he said the asbestos, which is all covered, is being taken out in small sections at a time and those areas sealed off as the work is carried out.
