Traffic chaos will bring a large chunk of south Essex to a standstill tonight as thousands of football fans flood onto Canvey during the rush hour.
The 3,500 supporters with a ticket for the crunch FA cup game between Canvey FC and Southend are being warned to leave home with several hours to spare to make kick-off at 7.45pm.
Lack of parking facilities around the Gulls' Park Lane ground is also expected to cause a problem, meaning supporters will have to leave their cars miles from the venue.
Police today told fans without tickets to stay well away and watch the game live on SkySports.
Chief Insp Tony Rayner, who has helped to organise security ahead of the clash, admitted there was little police could do to curb snarl-ups.
There will be no parking at the ground or in surrounding streets. The ground car park is already reserved.
