President George W Bush was met today with regal pomp - and protests.

Protesters make their point during a demonstration against US President George Bush

As the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh welcomed him to Buckingham Palace, a small group of demonstrators shouted their disapproval.

Meanwhile, peace campaigners have made their feelings known in a protest outside Colchester town hall.

More than 30 members of the Colchester Peace Campaign brandished placards and banners in the High Street last night.

Although the protest was a peaceful one, police officers were in attendance in case of any breach of the peace and some campaigners were told to remove banners containing obscenities.
