Problems in the Deanery Gardens area of Braintree are set to be addressed as part of a joint initiative between Braintree Council and the police.

Braintree councillor for Bocking North, Tony Everard, revealed talks with residents were imminent in a bid to stamp out some of the issues which are causing the community concern.

Mr Everard said a letter had been sent out to households in the area on behalf of the police and the council.

He said the letter was concerning efforts to improve the quality of life with both the council and police working hand in hand and to quell untrue "wild rumours" concerning redevelopment in the area.

The move has come after a spate of incidents in the area involving anti-social behaviour.

Last month the 21 bus route, which runs between Deanery Gardens and Black Notley, was withdrawn after vandals threw stones at the driver while travelling on his route in the area.
