Adrian Mussett once again did Colchester Harriers proud as he remained focused on his goal of representing England at the European Cross Country Championships.
Running in the qualifier at Liverpool, he needed to finish in the top six to gain automatic entry to the team.
However, he did not have as good a run as expected and had to settle for seventh spot, only four seconds off the crucial sixth position.
Now Mussett has to wait in the first reserve slot as the stand-in, if injuries or illness hits any of the quailfiers.
