A Businessman has returned to work after an unprovoked attack in Colchester town centre in which he lost the sight in one eye.
Ian Francis, 52, the owner of Flower Vogue in Head Street was walking up the hill with a friend when they were confronted by two strangers outside the Sixth Form College.
His friend was punched in the face and received a broken nose and Mr Francis was punched in the eye.
The blow burst his eye and doctors were unable to save the sight in his left eye.
He has returned to work this week and said the loss of his eye meant he couldn't drive and would restrict him being able to do the same work as he did before the attack.
"I don't consider Colchester as a no-go area," Mr Francis said.
Mr Francis said his attacker was in his late 20s or early 30s, but he had never seen him before around the town.
Police in the town have renewed appeals for witnesses to come forward who may have seen the attack which took place at about 11pm on North Hill on Thursday, October 30.
If anyone has any information about the attack they should contact officers at Colchester police on 01206 762212.
