Budding volcanologists and geologists were back to hitting the books today - after two days of art and model making.
Year ten youngsters at Cornelius Vermuyden School, in Dinant Avenue, Canvey, were taken off curriculum for two days last week and given the chance to develop their learning through art.
The move comes after the school was awarded visual arts status in September.
School art co-ordinator Katy Cook said: "We have had a couple of really fantastic days, all the students involved really enjoyed themselves.
"They worked in groups of about four and built some pretty huge models of things like cliff structures, volcanoes and land formations in general."
