She is co-patron of the Sunflower Trust, along with Rochford and Southend East Tory MP Sir Teddy Taylor

They both went to a fundraising ball by the Sunflower Trust at the Cumberland Banqueting Suite in Pembury Road, Southend.

Guests at the ball, including Southend deputy mayor Roger Weaver and his wife Verina, enjoyed a three course meal followed by a charity auction with a chance to bid for a signed album donated by singer Phil Collins.

The Sunflower Trust, supported by Southend business organisation Networking-on-Sea, aims to provide financial assistance for the treatment, equipment, social and health care, education and advancement of local children and their families when faced with life-threatening or chronic health conditions.

The ball allowed the trust to complete its £15,000 target towards building the new Sunflower Sensory Rooms at the unit.
