A Braintree school has announced who will take over when its long-serving headteacher departs in the new year.
John Hartley has been leading the way at Notley High School since 1997 but will be taking the reigns at Saffron Walden County High School in January.
His place will be taken by current Chelmer High School principal Simon Thompson.
Mr Thompson has been deputy headteacher at Chelmer Valley for six years and has successfully led bids for the school to become a teacher training school and specialist school.
He said: "I am very excited at the prospect of taking up the headship of Notley High School in January. The school has gone from strength to strength under John Hartley's leadership and I look forward to working closely with governors, staff, students and their parents to secure its future success and development.
"I am confident that students at Notley will continue to achieve strongly both academically and through the vibrant extra-curricular programme in the school."
