The Canvey Island Senior Citizen Association has struck lucky for the third time and received a cash boost from the National Lottery community fund.
The 35 year-old group, based at Long Road, Canvey, was awarded £18,319, which will go towards renovations of the roof.
Stanley Kingham, chairman, said: "We are over the moon. This is the third time we have been lucky with an award from the Community Fund.
"I was a little dubious about applying but after attending a briefing where we heard in a very straight forward way the pros and cons of getting funded I decided to give it another try.
"We are very lucky and this award means we will be in the dry for the next 20 years.
"We will renew the roof and change it from a flat roof to a wedge shaped roof. We had a quote for £18,000."
