Mitchell Springett felt his Harwich and Parkeston side were 'unlucky not to win' their Ridgeons League Cup third round match at high-flying AFC Sudbury.
The Shrimpers clawed their way back level twice in a 2-2 draw, but failed to grab the all-important winner in extra-time against their next opponents in the FA Vase.
Player/manager Springett said: "The whole squad is very pleased with the result.
"We got stronger as we went along and had chances to win it in the end while we limited them to scoring opportunities."
Ridgeons League premier division giants Sudbury deservedly took the lead midway through the first half, but Harwich struck back immediatetly through Steve Townes.
Last year's FA Vase runners-up regained the lead with just over half an hour left, but again the Shrimpers were not to let their heads drop as Matt Carmichael scored his 21st goal of the season.
"We looked a bit fitter than Sudbury and looked stronger in extra-time," Springett said.
The two sides will now meet again twice in a week.
