New equipment used by Braintree police to interview vulnerable witnesses has been hailed a success.
Police from the division have recently taken delivery of new kit consisting of a DVD recorder and two cameras which is intended to be used on witnesses such as children and victims of sexual or racial assault.
Braintree, along with the Southend division, has been using the kit to relieve pressure on stations with interviewing suites.
Det Sgt Chris James of Braintree CID said one of the main reasons why Braintree is using the equipment is because the station in The Avenue has not got its own interviewing suite.
He said: "The nearest one is in Colchester or Chelmsford. So what we have is portable equipment and we take it everywhere we like so we can conduct interviews."
