Alan Mahon looks to have played his way back into contention for Ipswich's Nationwide League Division One trip to Cardiff City on Saturday.
The Ipswich Town loanee has been out since last month after picking up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win against Stoke.
But he came through 70 minutes of last night's 1-0 reserves defeat at home to Chelsea.
And he suffered no ill effects - boosting his chances of getting back in action at Ninian Park.
However, he faces a battle to dislodge the player brought in to replace him at Town - Clacton's Ian Westlake.
The youngster has taken his big chance with both hands, turning in a string of impressive performances and scoring two goals.
Alun Armstrong and Tommy Miller were also given run-outs in last night's game at Portman Road, while John McGreal completed 90 minutes.
