More than 100 workers at a Basildon factory today launched strike action for a second week running in a dispute centring on overtime.
Shopfloor workers at York International, which manufactures industrial air conditioning units, manned picket lines last Friday, in the factory's first strike for 14 years.
The dispute involves the payment of overtime, which York workers believe they are entitled to whenever agency workers are called in.
Another one-day strike was getting under way today.
One striker, who did not wish to be named, said: "The company did not listen to us last week, so we are making our case on the picket line for a second week. Last week we managed to turn back a few lorries. The management has responded by shipping in everything it needs in the middle of the week."
No representative of York's management was available for comment on the eve of the strike.
