The RSPCA commendations were handed out at a ceremony at the town's fire station on Friday.
Among those picking up one of the gongs were members of the fire service's Blue Watch, who spent more than three hours helping to free the 120lb harbour porpoise on May 10.
Four members of the British Divers Marine Life rescue team were also honoured, along with the crane driver from Wheeler's Scrapyard, who winched the animal out of the water.
