A man who went for physiotherapy at a private clinic was left locked in for more than two hours as he lay on a table waiting for treatment.

The patient, from Canvey who doesn't want to be named, went to an undisclosed clinic on the island where he had to eventually call police to let him out.

The lock-in happened after the man was told to get on to the table and wait for a member of staff who would come in and treat him with massage and physio.

The staff then forgot about him and locked all the doors turned the lights out and went home at around 4pm last Friday.

Sgt Kevin-Diable White said: "The man obviously didn't realise this and was left waiting for someone to come in to give him his treatment."

Eventually the man found a phone and called the police to rescue him.
