A Canvey yacht club is waiting to hear if a mobile phone mast disguised to look like flagpole can be installed on its land.
A planning application has been submitted to Castle Point Council for permission to put up the mast, which has six antennae and a radio dish, at the Island Yacht Club, in Point Road.
Barry Hiscutt, club commodore, said mobile giant Vodafone had approached the club and asked if the mast could be based there.
Mr Hiscutt said: "We have agreed in principle to the equipment being installed on our land, providing planning permission is granted by Castle Point Council." The application will go before councillors on January 15.
