The outcome of a cliffhanger match was decided in the last game of the night when Rayleigh Mill met Hullbridge C in the Premier Division of the Southend & District Table Tennis League.

The scoreline was 4-4 before Peter Saunders overcame Neil Disley in the last encounter of the night to earn his second win and clinch the match for Hullbridge.

Bill Smith also won two of his games and the team was completed by Derek Lloyd with an all-important single success.

Rawreth B had to work hard for their 7-2 win over Hullbridge B. Dave Calleja was the hat-trick man for Rawreth while Paul Churn and Gary Brignall supported him with two wins each, both of them losing to Tim Pang.

In Division One, St Peters A moved into second place in the -- behind Runnymede A -- following their 6-3 win over Hadleigh Forum B.

Ray Elsdon was the man in form for the Saints although he was taken to five sets by Forum's Dave Sibley and Mark Everard.

Alan Tideswell's hat-trick led Rawreth E to a welcome win over Lentern C. Andy Hanlon narrowly missed his maximum when he lost 14-16 in the fifth to Lentern's Peter Lucraft, but his two wins, along with a brace for Gary Copsey, gave Rawreth a 7-2 victory.
