Classical music could soon be a new feature at Billericay Railway Station after a grant of £500 was awarded to the project.
It is hoped the move will deter gangs of youths from congregating outside the problem area and reduce the amount of criminal damage and vandalism.
Commuters could soon be listening to the sounds of Mozart and Strauss at night after the grant was donated to Billericay Police by Billericay Town Council.
A total of £3,000 is needed to fund the supply and installation of speakers, cabling and audio equipment.
