Four people were injured in two serious crashes in the Tendring area.

Two people were seriously injured following a head-on collision in Little Clacton.

Two cars were involved in the incident in Holland Road at 9.30pm last night, not far from Crusader Business Park.

Firefighters from Clacton were called and had to cut people from both cars - a Renault Espace and Ford Sierra.

They were at the scene for 90 minutes, helping to free the victims and clear the road.

None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

A third person who was in one of the vehicles suffered minor injuries.

Emergency services at the scene cleared oil from the road.

In a separate incident, a woman was injured after a car crashed through a fence and hit two stationary vehicles.

The white Iveco van was involved in the accident at 9.30pm last night in Ramsey Road, Dovercourt.

Police said the van was travelling towards Harwich when it hit a Ford Fiesta, then swerved to the near-side and struck a fence before finally hitting another stationary car, a Ford Focus.
